Inclusivity is not just a buzzword; it’s a fundamental principle that underpins the strength and resilience of any community. As the newly appointed Inclusivity Representative for ADAPT, I am honored to embark on this journey of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within our network.
ADAPT has always been conscious of the importance of inclusivity, recognising that diverse perspectives enrich our collective experience and drive innovation. However, the formalization of the Inclusivity Representative role marks a significant milestone in our commitment to fostering an environment where every member feels valued and respected.
Our network’s mission statement reflects our dedication to promoting cultural sensitivity and global collaboration. As the Inclusivity Representative, I am excited to align our activities with this mission and ensure that inclusivity is at the forefront of everything we do.
My journey to this role has been shaped by my experiences within the NHS and universities, where I have been actively involved in promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. I have seen firsthand the transformative power of inclusivity in creating more equitable and supportive environments.
My commitment to inclusivity goes beyond professional endeavors; it stems from my personal life experiences as well. As someone who has navigated various intersecting identities, I understand the importance of creating spaces where individuals from all backgrounds feel heard and valued.
In my new role, I am eager to collaborate with fellow ADAPT members to reform our approach to inclusivity. While we have made strides in this area, there is always more we can do to ensure that our network is truly representative of the diverse tapestry of voices within the physiotherapy community.
One of my goals is to facilitate open dialogue and constructive discussions around inclusivity-related topics, such as unconscious bias, cultural competency, and accessibility. By creating safe spaces for honest conversations, we can identify areas for improvement and implement meaningful changes that benefit all members of our network.
Together, we will explore new initiatives and empower ADAPT members to champion inclusivity in their respective spheres of influence.
Warm regards, – Inclusivity Representative, ADAPT
